The First Sonatina Book – Alfred Masterwork Edition

Description

The First Sonatina Book, edited by Willard A. Palmer, is a carefully graded introduction to the classical sonatina for early intermediate pianists. Published as part of the Alfred Masterwork Editions, this collection balances well-known favorites—such as Beethoven’s Sonatina in G and Clementi’s Sonatina in C, Op. 36, No. 1—with lesser-known but musically rewarding works by Latour, Wanhal, Halsinger, and Pleyel. Palmer’s edition includes a concise introduction to sonatina form along with brief composer biographies, making this an excellent teaching and performance resource for developing classical style, form awareness, and technique.
