Description
Unlock classic vintage thump and a silky-smooth playing experience with the D’Addario ECB81-5 XL Chromes Flatwound 5-string Bass Strings. As D’Addario’s best-selling flatwound bass set, these Regular Light (.045–.132) strings are the industry standard for players demanding a deep, rich low-end without sacrificing presence. The secret lies in the construction: D’Addario takes a high-carbon steel Hex-Core and winds it with flattened stainless steel ribbon wire. Every string is then precisely polished to an unparalleled, smooth finish. The result is a warm, mellow tone reminiscent of an upright bass, making them the ultimate flatwound choice for Jazz, R&B, Motown, and Pop musicians. By drastically reducing finger noise and fret drag, the ECB81-5 set offers effortless playability for both studio recording and live performances. Key Features Industry Standard Vintage Tone: Flattened stainless steel ribbon wire provides a dark, warm, and mellow fundamental tone with zero finger squeak. Regular Light Gauge: Features a balanced tension profile across .045, .065, .080, .100, and .132 gauges for excellent playability and a tight low end.
