BigTime® Piano Jazz & Blues – Level 4 (Faber Piano Adventures)

Description

BigTime® Piano Jazz & Blues – Level 4 is a go-to supplement for students ready to move beyond standard method repertoire and into jazz styles. Arranged by Nancy and Randall Faber, this book introduces swing, blues, and bossa nova in a way that fits comfortably within the Level 4 reading range. Students at this stage are developing stronger rhythmic control and hand independence. This collection builds those skills through steady left-hand patterns, syncopation, and phrasing that reflects real jazz playing without requiring advanced technique. The arrangements are written to sound full at the piano. Students get that “big” sound using octave melodies and richer chords, which makes these pieces work well for recitals or auditions. Teachers typically use this book to: Introduce swing feel and basic jazz articulation Reinforce rhythm and timing in a different style Add variety to lesson assignments Give students recognizable jazz standards to work on Well-known titles like Take the “A” Train, Desafinado, Autumn Leaves, Misty, and Night Train give students exposure to core repertoire, while original pieces like Big City Blues help reinforce style without added complexity. This book makes sense for students who: Are currently in Faber Piano Adventures Level 4 Read comfortably and are ready for stylistic variety Need recital material outside of classical literature Show interest in jazz, blues, or improvisation If you’re not sure whether your student is ready for BigTime Level 4, bring in their current lesson book and we’ll help you line it up correctly.
